Project/Billing Dispute Mediation

Let's face it - things don't always go as planned. The IT world is often complex and confusing (even to 'techies'). As business owners, what we think we’re paying for is sometimes different than what our IT providers deliver. Maybe some deadlines haven’t been met. Maybe something wasn’t uncovered until after implementation began (and you feel it should have been by your technology partner). Or maybe it’s something that you explicitly expressed to your IT provider and simply thought it was ‘included’. Maybe it is simply a matter of miscommunication, but both parties have ‘dug in their heels’ and neither side is getting anything accomplished.

On the other hand, maybe you’re an IT provider that has done your best to meet your client's expectations, but find yourself at odds with your client over payment. Or maybe you thoroughly expressed what was both included and excluded from your implementation prior to beginning, but somewhere something wasn’t communicated and the expectation to provide more or do something different is looming like a cloud over your head.

As both a business owner managing outside IT resources and subcontractors (requesting technology solutions), as well as being a technology firm providing IT implementations to clients, I have experience and a unique skillset that is brought to these difficult finger-pointing (blaming) situations. I have learned over decades of experience that it’s seldom about blaming as much as it is about understanding, empathizing, and sometimes redefining our expectations, as well as understanding that technology implementations are usually a very fluid process that demand flexibility (from both sides) and much communication (again, from both sides). After analyzing the RFP (and/or any other provided documentation) I will probe for further detail your expectations. We will discuss what has been accomplished and what has yet to be completed (and what each party feels is their definition of completed). My goal is to then guide you to a resolution that is fair for you and that you can live with (hopefully as you continue your business partnership). So, if you find yourself on either side of this challenging situation, I welcome the opportunity to work through this with you.
